KidZ at Heart is now halfway through our 15th year of ministry. Many times we have wondered if the ministry would last another day, let alone another decade! We have often clung to the wisdom (and reality) of Gamaliel, when he told the council: “If this program or this work is merely human, it will fall apart, but if it is of God, there is nothing you can do about it” (Acts 5:38-39).
The ministry has continued to grow “immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine” (Eph 3:20). From our beginning in 2003 with one trip to Uganda, KidZ at Heart trainings were present in 13 countries by 2008. Today, KidZ at Heart has trained local church, school and family leaders in 37 countries around the world and projects to open 4 more countries. Soon, KidZ will be in over 40 countries! Still…dozens of countries have vetted hosts who have requested KidZ at Heart training but remain on our “wait list,” some for many years.
As we recognize more and more that God is doing something big, we also recognize that it’s time for us to think big in order to follow God’s call for KidZ at Heart worldwide. While 95% of the world’s children are outside of North America, they receive only about 5% of the children’s ministry resources and training. And while 85% of all decisions for Jesus are made prior to the person’s 15th birthday, only about 15% of missions giving is directed towards this most receptive audience!
During May, we are asking you to think big with us, as we seek gifts from new and increasing donors in order to equip people to reach and teach kids for Christ within a few more countries.
Cambodia is just one of the countries that your gift will help open for KidZ at Heart training. The population of Cambodia is more than 80% Buddhist.
Our invitation comes from the South East Asia Prayer Center (SEAPC), an organization that ministers through a network of leaders throughout Southeast Asia. The Cambodian government has allowed SEAPC to work directly with local teachers, and KidZ at Heart is teaming up with SEAPC to train Cambodian teachers to know how kids learn best based on biblical principles and values.
The need for solid educational training and loving connections with Christian leaders is enormous.
“There is insufficient staff in schools, with 58,776 teachers teaching 2,311,107 primary school students and only 27,240 teachers teaching 637,629 lower secondary students. In addition, over 60% of the primary and secondary school teachers received at most secondary education, which thus compromises the quality of education” (UNESCO).
While this first trip is planned for a small province in Cambodia, SEAPC will continue the KidZ at Heart training across the entire country.
We have a goal of securing $56,000 for this campaign. As a giver to this campaign, your gift will go twice as far, doubling your investment towards bringing the gospel to Buddhist teachers in Cambodia. Know every dollar you give helps more children in places like Cambodia come to love God with all their heart, soul, mind, and strength. Give now.
“And when we take your gifts to those who need them, they will thank God” (2 Cor 9:11).
