Hundreds of children's leaders--those trusted individuals with whom children have an ongoing relationship--gathered for training in various locations throughout Southern Africa.  These trusted leaders took their roles very seriously. They not only have ongoing relationships with children, they have a God-given responsibility to nurture these children within their own culture. Though faced with a lack of resources and training, they wanted to know the best ways to help children fall deeply in love with Jesus.

Salima, Malawi
As a start of the KidZ at Heart partnership with Starfish Malawi (an organization seeking to make a difference in education, vocational training, and health awareness by helping build the Kingdom of God in the lives of children), the KidZ team taught 35 participants over three days of the KidZ Ministry Teacher Certificate. One participant said, "This is a helpful training and powerful. Many thanks to KidZ at Heart." And another shared, "The training was great because it helped me to get new methods of teaching children."

Chipata, Zambia
After the training in Salima, Malawi, the team crossed the border to Chipata, Zambia. This was the second year in Chipata, so the team taught further portions of the KidZ Ministry Teacher Certificate. About half of the 40 participants had attended the 2017 training. God is raising up people to soon train throughout the year in Zambia as licensed as KidZ at Heart trainers. Gertrude, a participant, shared the excitement in Zambia, "This was the best training ever. It is interactive and helps you to look at the discipline." Betty commented, "The training was so exciting, helpful and I can't wait for the next one."

Chongwe, Zambia
The KidZ team conducted the first training in this strategic location in a beautiful outdoor setting. About 50 participants attended the training to learn effective education, child development, and spiritual formation for children. Watching the hosts do part of the training in their home language set the stage for the future of training in Zambia under their leadership. One participant, Bethel, commented, "I love this program so much." Elizabeth said, "I have learned new things which I didn't know. Thank you!"

Jo'burg, South Africa
The team met with some of the South Africa KidZ at Heart trainers. Together they discussed a refined approach for replicating regional training networks, debriefed how training is going in South Africa, and learned of the growing need and requests for training. Please pray for a National Training Network Coordinator for South Africa. This person will help the Regional Training Network Director Lynnette Stander responsible for all of southern Africa. More requests for KidZ at Heart training are coming in for new locations in South Africa (and all of southern Africa), and additional trainers in this country are also needed to meet the requests.

Future Plans
KidZ at Heart is excited to announce some of the 2019 plans for southern Africa. In April, Lynnette will lead a team of trainers from South Africa (and potentially some from the U.S.) to continue the training in Salima, Malawi, as well as Chipata, Zambia. In Chipata they will then have some participants ready to go through the Great Trainer Summit to become licensed KidZ at Heart trainers. Then in late October through the first part of November, Vice President of International Ministries Pat McWhorter will lead a team to train in Chongwe, Zambia, to continue training and invite qualified participants to become licensed trainers. The team will then head to a new country, Zimbabwe, to launch a Local Training Network in that country.
