When I started going to Haiti back in 2016 one of the first families I met were the Jeanfrancois. This family has grown dear to me over the years, becoming an extension of my own family. In getting to know them it is extraordinarily clear how much the Lord is at their very core. The Jeanfrancois family humbly gives their lives to God and are a vital part of the community and church. The entire family has been blessed by God with musical talent. I have been privileged to listen and watch them work in harmony to create beautiful worship music. Israel Jeanfrancois is the eldest of the 5 children and is the worship leader at the church high up on the mountain edge of Source Pineau. Here are words from his heart.

“God does many things for my life. I would not have anything without God. I cannot repay Him for all He does for me and my family. When I reflect on all He does for us, I want to worship and praise him for every bit of my life; God deserves all. God gives me a gift by putting music deep on my heart. I want to work for the Lord with my voice and instruments. I wish to grow Gods kingdom (Psalm 150). God puts music deep on my heart, He calls me to teach others to worship with music. To build a strong band and choir so we can bring worship to people all over so they can know the Lord, so they can praise the Lord for all He does in their lives as well.”

Israel has taught himself many instruments and he spends his time teaching others in his community to play instruments and to sing. He also works with the younger children on singing, reading and understanding music, and to play recorders progressing to other instruments like the flute and clarinet. The instruments they play are hand-me-downs that are either donated, or through fundraisers to provide the financing so they can purchase used instruments available in Haiti. Israel and his students are so thankful for Gods provision. Jobs are very hard to come by for teenagers and young adults, so being able to play music helps them to earn a little for their family by giving them the opportunity to play at funerals, weddings and other types of celebrations. They are also able to put on concerts in surrounding areas. Life is not easy in Haiti, yet God is doing something amazing through this community, and through this family. They truly shine Gods light and it is turning lives toward Jesus! Click this link for a picture collage Israel JeanFrancois Worship Leader
