At age 12, God called Carolina, a young woman in El Salvador eager to serve. She responded by assisting her Sunday school teacher but was soon leading a Vacation Bible School class on her own. Since that time, Carolina’s passion to teach children and connect them with a great God has grown her leadership and influence to impact many in her country. KidZ at Heart is blessed to have her as part of our staff community and delighted to highlight her work in El Salvador [...]

The board and staff of KidZ at Heart International is delighted to welcome Paige Kolb and SureFire Prayer to our global Christian community. As the rich suite of resources and dynamic leaders of SureFire Prayer are grafted into KidZ at Heart, we will be better prepared than ever before to train, partner with, and mobilize networks of leaders to help kids fall deeply in love with Jesus!

Like any partnership, this one came together based on shared passion, vision, and style, with both [...]

From the Inside Out

Recently, we visited the growing KidZ at Heart team in El Salvador to conduct KidZ at Heart’s Great Trainers Summit, our training of trainers. While traveling in-country, we saw churches everywhere which helped us see why El Salvador considers itself to be a Christian country. Jesus has been proclaimed there for many years, yet we were saddened to hear the results of a recent survey.

This study revealed that 54.9% of all inmates currently in the prisons of El Salvador [...]

2018: A Year in Review

By |2019-01-17T11:29:18-04:00January 14, 2019|Gordon D. West: KidZ Newsletters, Staff Blogs|

This was a year of continuing to listen for and cooperate with God’s priorities for KidZ at Heart. To the best of our ability, our staff and board gathers regularly for a variety of spiritual practices, where we attempt to create space to be with and listen to God as a ministry team. You might think of it as creating a Tabernacle experience where we can spend time with God personally.

As we continued to follow those practices together in 2018, we saw God bring new [...]

Children long to be loved.

Children long to be loved. When they are loved consistently and in meaningful ways by adults in their lives who also love Jesus, the children end up falling deeply in love with Jesus themselves. That’s the message of Deuteronomy 6.

However, that’s not the “norm” in our culture and in many others around the world. Dallas Willard shared the grim news during a talk in 2001 when he acknowledged that it is now statistically and anecdotally common to find that Christians generally do not differ significantly [...]

What We Do…In Just Three Words

Train. Partner. Mobilize. And give thanks!

(Okay...that was six. But you get the point.)

Partner. You have relationships with children in your home, church, and community. Your proximity to those children and your relationship with them make you the most effective person to impact them. This is God’s design for passing on our faith to the next generation (Deuteronomy 6). It’s the same for the networks of adults with whom we partner across the United States and in more than 40 countries around the world where KidZ [...]

A Global Christian Community

By |2018-10-15T14:46:17-04:00October 15, 2018|Gordon D. West: Newsletters, Staff Blogs|

Why were 24 people cheering and clapping in El Salvador? Because we had just declared them part of the global Christian community called KidZ at Heart!

In El Salvador, we joined with Carolina de Portillo (Regional Director for Latin America) and Rocio Carcamo (National Trainer for El Salvador) and their team, as we conducted our first-ever Great Trainers Summit. Carolina and Rocio hand-selected 24 members from their current series of KidZ Ministry Teacher Certificate program trainings. This group received training and demonstrated their ability to effectively [...]

We Invite You to Dream

We’ve been talking quite a bit about spiritual formation of children and even a new project that KidZ at Heart is starting with Grafted Life Ministries. We invite you to dream with us.

Can you imagine...

  1. Casting a fresh vision for the church that thriving relationships with God and others are important at every age. There is no reason children can’t become aware of God’s presence in their everyday life. In fact, some would say they are as open to connecting with God, moment by [...]

What does God do when he wants to get your attention?

For us, it often comes in the form of an idea bigger than we dare embrace followed by an excitement that just cannot be dampened. That’s exactly what happened to us recently.

New friends, new partners, new opportunities

God unexpectedly captured our attention in February. We were presenting our “Connecting Kids with God” workshop at the Spiritual Formation Society of Arizona’s 2018 National Conference. Since the foundation of spiritual formation is relationships, it should not have been [...]
