From the Heart of KidZ at Heart (May 2020)

I’m a hiker. I love getting outside for fresh air and some quiet time in nature with the God who created it all. For me, hiking is good exercise, but it’s more than that. Hiking is a spiritual discipline that helps me keep my eyes on Jesus.

When I hike with someone, I find myself worried about what pace the other person is walking. Am I leaving him behind? Or, more likely, am I holding him back? My eyes are [...]

“I’m God’s Favorite!”

“I’m God’s favorite!” My friend Maggie was the first person I heard say this and it took me a bit of time to understand what she meant and to agree with her. But I can myself say, “I’m God’s favorite!” There is so much showing me His love, care, compassion, concern, provision, protection, passion for that it would be foolish for me to not believe “I’m God’s favorite!” Can you agree with me, not that I’m His favorite, but that you are God’s favorite?!

There's a lot of depressing news circulating around right now.  I'm not here to tell you that the situation in the world is good, nor will I attempt to diminish the true hardships that many people all over the world are enduring.  However, it is times like these when it is vitally important that we, as believers in Jesus, remind ourselves of what we have to look forward to.  I myself have been reminded of these things in recent weeks, so I thought I would [...]

God is with us.  All wisdom starts with Him and all understanding comes from Him. He is the founder of our faith. Next time you are feeling overwhelmed, worried or sad let's remember to take a deep breathe and say to ourselves BUT God. Without God this would feel like a hopeless time. BUT God is our hope. Some call it “lock down.”  In many respects, however, I’ve experienced a great freedom having time to read and take long naps among other activities. I’ve been sheltered at home since the latter part of February, and with the invasion of COVID-19 almost all human contact has been virtual.

For instance, I joined with 25 others recently...(click to read more)

Think deeply for just a moment…where were you when you accepted Christ as your Savior? Who was influential in that decision? How old were you?

We asked that as an opening question in a gathering of about 40 adults. Each one had to form groups by choosing their answer regarding who/what was most influential in nurturing their relationship with Jesus. Overwhelmingly, the majority chose...(click to read more)

The Road Leading to the Hente’s

It’s been a couple weeks since I said goodbye to my home. I admit I have been feeling very emotional. A friend recently pointed out to me that I am grieving what was, making room for what God has next. That I need to give myself time to “sit into” my feelings, so that’s what I have been doing; this has led to a lot of reflection.

I knew my life was blessed in so many ways and that we have a great Father who provides [...]

...for God is present in the company of the righteous. Psalm 14:5

In these days of quarantine and separation, social distancing and self isolation how wonderful to have faithful companions! O the blessing of having friends who pray for us and help us focus on truth!

Faithful companions who remind us of sustaining truth - there is one constant companion, one great comfort: God is with us! His companionship satisfies our souls! And sometimes a faithful friend [...]
