This past month has been focused on wrapping up the planning for our trainers in Nepal as they start a new round of the Transforming KidZ Ministry modules in Kathmandu later this spring.

After an exploratory trip to Indonesia went very well last October, we are now planning the first training trip to Indonesia later in October 2020. We are continuing to work opportunities with the School of Promise in Thailand as well [...]

Is God Calling You To Tanzania in 2020?

2019 was a great year for KidZ at Heart training in Africa! Our National Training Networks in South Africa and Uganda facilitated the vast majority of training as two-hundred and fifty teachers attended twelve different training locations in five different countries – Uganda, Kenya, Zambia, Malawi, and South Africa. Over one-hundred people earned their certificates of completion as their training locations completed all 8 modules.

Also, in November of 2019, we officially welcomed Derrick and [...]

One way to connect children with God is through “listening prayer.”

Let me explain what it means to hear God’s voice through prayer. Jesus said in John 10:4, “the sheep will follow the shepherd because they know his voice.” If you want to help children discover how to engage in listening prayer, be ready. It takes practice, modeling, and a little explanation!

Invite the children to think [...]

My trek through life brings a new horizon, a new landscape.

God is guiding me on this seemingly unlikely journey from the world of journalism and newspapers into the world of ministry and missions in my role as VP of communications at KidZ at Heart.

I am excited, awed and challenged by the opportunity to help young people around the globe fall deeply in love with Jesus.

What I learned

One of the most important lessons I carried throughout a long career in newspapers is a simple principle that [...]

New Things

New – a new year, a new role, a ‘new office,’ new relationships. Maybe you have other new things that are happening for you. There is excitement in this newness and possibly some tentativeness. I know that I have both of these in varying degrees as I journey ahead one step at a time. But God is with me and He delights in things that are new – a [...]

Voices of Haiti; Life from their perspective

Last month in my newsletter I began a new section called "Voices of Haiti; Life from their perspective." I received very good feedback from friends and family after they read the touching words from the two gentlemen who wrote about their current life conditions in Haiti. I hope that you'll enjoy this next piece just as much.

Along my journey in Haiti I have been privileged to meet Marie-Daniele Laplante. This young lady has a beautiful heart for God and a hunger for knowledge. She currently [...]

These Aren’t the Droids You’re Looking For

As the big, white, paragraphs of text slowly filled the immense theater screen, and the mesmerizing music played its familiar tune, I raised my fists in the air and let out a loud cheer. I couldn't help myself! It was the final Star Wars movie in a forever long saga, a three-part trilogy of the greatest "space opera" ever.

These movies always take me back to my childhood. I remember playing with my Luke, Leah, Han Solo, Darth Vadar, R2-D2 and C-3PO action figures. Before I [...]

Unexpected provision – passing it on

Squirrels have been called "varmints" at our house for as long as I can remember - or at least they were until a few weeks ago. My perspective changed the day I opened a Christmas card and some unknown "varmint" became part of a "mercies new every morning" story.

Many, many years ago -  maybe as much as 50 years ago - some squirrels unexpectedly buried some walnuts out in a pasture in south central Kansas and, even more unexpectedly, forgot to go back later to [...]
