Our family has a favorite Christmas story that we either watch or read each year: The Best Christmas Pageant Ever, by Barbara Robinson. As the story begins, the pending doom is immediately clear:

The Herdmans were absolutely the worst kids in the history of the world. They lied and stole and smoked cigars (even the girls) and talked dirty and hit little kids and cussed their teachers and took the name of the Lord in vain and set fire to Fred Shoemaker’s old broken-down toolhouse.

The past five months have caused us to re-examine everything. Life is fragile and time is short. We want our lives, now more than ever, to count for something, to make a difference, to honor our loving Heavenly Father in every way we can.

So many children around the world are in need of so much. That’s why we’re doubling down to mobilize children’s ministry leaders around the world to invest in making Great Commandment kids, ones who love God with all their hearts, all [...]

In his best-seller, The Tipping Point: How Little Things Can Make a Big Difference, Malcolm Gladwell defines tipping point as "the moment of critical mass, the threshold, the boiling point." This summer, we were privileged to watch the ministry of KidZ at Heart “boil over” in South Africa, Uganda, and Moldova.

The generosity of Christians overwhelms us! God’s people want to bless others by sharing the material possessions that he has provided.

But this shouldn’t be a surprise. It’s his plan! “Yes, you will be enriched in every way so that you can always be generous. And when we take your gifts to those who need them, they will thank God” (2 Cor 9:11).

That’s why KidZ at Heart has created the first-ever “KidZ Generosity Guide.” With all that is happening in the world, we wanted to help [...]

For the past four years, you have heard us talk about KAHLA, KidZ at Heart Leadership Advocates, a strategy to partner with local leaders in key regions of the world to train and certify children’s ministry workers. Now we’d like to share about exciting new developments and a new name.

It all began with a “listening group” in Kampala, Uganda, in late 2011. A group of over 70 Ugandan church, civic, and children’s ministry leaders shared their hearts for children and their vision for mobilizing more [...]

Nepali kids prayingYou’ve heard of Mount Everest, but do you know where it is? Mount Everest is a 29,029 foot creation of God in the Great Himalayan Range that makes up the northern region of Nepal against the southern border of China. This small country of Nepal is just north of India in southern Asia.

Spiritually speaking, Nepal has long been considered one of the darkest countries in the world. With a population of 27 million people, only [...]

Gordon and Becki West KidZ at Heart FoundersThrough multiple sources in 2015, we heard God telling us that he was ready to grow the ministry of KidZ at Heart, but that we were not ready. We saw a number of “infrastructure” items that needed attention before growth could take place. We have worked tirelessly, keeping ministry projects going while also rebuilding the airplane as we flew it!

Though these accomplishments mostly fall behind the scenes and are not [...]

Your Christmas List this Year

Like most married couples, we were raised in two very different homes.

I (Becki) grew up in a family that attended church regularly. My parents and Sunday school teachers taught me the Bible stories well. Those early lessons helped me form a personal faith at a very young age. In our home, Christmas was the celebration of the birth of a baby I seem to have always known as my Savior.

I (Gordon) grew up in a family that did not talk about “religion.” This was something [...]
