What a year this has been! It seemed like everything we worked to develop needed a huge learning curve.

Our work with Hope International University (HIU) has taught us a lot about what it means to take our in-person training material and create an on-line course. After many hours of work by our department and feedback from our colleagues at HIU, the course is in its final stage. The goal is to offer it for the first time during the summer 2019 session.

All eight modules of the KidZ Ministry Teacher Certificate are not only written, but have already been revised and redistributed based on feedback from the field.

The content for our first course to be offered in partnership with Hope International University has been outlined and course objectives written. We are so excited about this partnership and the opportunity it gives to offer KidZ at Heart training online.

KidZ at Heart recruits and trains short-term teams from across the United States and then provides the teams with field-tested training materials to use in equipping conferences around the world. It’s not just those trained and their kids who benefit. It’s a blessing for those who go on a short-term team.

Highlights of 2016

• The first draft of the KidZ Ministry Teacher Certificate was presented in South Africa and Uganda in July, to excellent reviews. Since then, Module 1, “Nurturing Great Children,” and Module 2, “How Children Learn,” have been fine-tuned and put into final format. They will be taught in multiple locations in 2017.
• Thanks to generous gifts from two donors, we were able to pay excellent translators who prepared training material in Kiswahili and Spanish.

Staff have developed and translated more than 50 workshops in English, Spanish (multiple dialects), Telegu (India), Kiswahili (Tanzania), French, Chinese, Ateso and Luganda (Uganda), Latvian, Thai, and Ukrainian.

Highlights of 2015

• Welcomed and trained new staff and volunteers serving as copy editors, writers, and translators.
• Prepared teaching schedules and transmitted workshops for 19 international KidZ Ministry Equipping Conferences (KMEC). This includes six separate trainings in El Salvador and four for Kampala Evangelical School of Theology (KEST) in Uganda.

With the help and encouragement of friends - Andy Barnett, Trina Rajsich, and Evelyn Lengarwa - I climbed the trail to the saddle of Mt. Humphrey! It was steep, slippery and rocky. And there were times I wondered if it was worth the pain. BUT IT WAS! What a beautiful view of Northern Arizona and the Inner Basin of the San Francisco Peaks. Thank you, Lord, for stamina and for friends!

I'm very excited about all the new opportunities God is giving us at KidZ at Heart. Preparing for Corazon de Nino, our Spanish-language training in the U.S., KidZtitute and KidZ Live, trainings at KEST (Kampala Evangelical School of Theology in Uganda), and teams heading to South Africa and India has kept me very busy in the last few weeks.
