Fear and control. Two things that we as humans are always trying to come to grips with. I have been reading a book (With by Skye Jethani) that highlights multiple ways that humans try and cope with these and often find more problems created from their attempts. I consider my own life and see even this week how I want to control parts of my life! What about you – do you see fear or control in your life? This author’s premise is that if [...]
Would you rather…be covered in fur or scales? …always be 10 minutes late or always 20 minutes early? …be an unimportant character in the last movie your saw or the last book you read? …live on the beach or in a cabin in the woods? Yes, slightly silly questions that can make for some creative conversations with no right answers! (thanks to conversationstartsworld.com/would-you-rather-questions/ for these ideas!)
Would you rather return to ‘normal’ life from before the pandemic or live in the ‘new normal’ of [...]
What do you do when the tools you use for work are broken? My response has been – ughh, really?!?, no!!!, what can I do without a laptop? And lots of other emotions! It is time to replace my smart phone but I am slow in doing so; in the meantime I hope that I am not missing messages. Praise - I have been blessed to receive funds for this purchase. Last week I was starting to feel more ready to start on a steady [...]
Discovering God’s Higher Plan
By Maureen Berger
“… my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.”
— Isaiah 55:9
My journey during the past year has been nothing I could have imagined! Peek into my journey of God’s leading and provision as I enter my new role at KidZ at Heart.
Last summer: I feel the Lord preparing me for change. I don’t have any idea of what that might be, as I have [...]
“I’m God’s favorite!” My friend Maggie was the first person I heard say this and it took me a bit of time to understand what she meant and to agree with her. But I can myself say, “I’m God’s favorite!” There is so much showing me His love, care, compassion, concern, provision, protection, passion for that it would be foolish for me to not believe “I’m God’s favorite!” Can you agree with me, not that I’m His favorite, but that you are God’s favorite?!
One special blessing as I have connected with people in this past month is hearing their hearts, the people who have influenced their faith journeys, and their desires to be growing to be more like Christ. It is a wonderful team of people whom I get to call friends and partners!
“…making my prayer with joy, because of your partnership in the gospel...” Philippians 1:4b-5a (ESV)
Praise & Prayers for me –
- Thank you for praying as I share KidZ at Heart and partnering [...]
In Sunday school a few weeks ago we read through Luke 1-2 together and then shared things that stood out or that we wondered about or that we struggled with. The Word of God is living and active and the Holy Spirit is working in believers and when these things come together it is a beautiful time of listening and learning together. How have you been encouraged by the Word?
“For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword…” [...]
You have heard – God cares more about our being than our doing – that is why we are human beings and not human doings! But my guess is that you probably struggle as much as I often do with the practical living out of this. In the past weeks I have been encouraged to do so, largely out of necessity because I can’t run and do anything yet in this role. It is not always easy, yet it is so good to be still [...]
New – a new year, a new role, a ‘new office,’ new relationships. Maybe you have other new things that are happening for you. There is excitement in this newness and possibly some tentativeness. I know that I have both of these in varying degrees as I journey ahead one step at a time. But God is with me and He delights in things that are new – a [...]
What would you do in a season of transition? How would you structure your time and thoughts? These are questions that I have asked and lived out in the past couple of weeks since my return to the States. I am not convinced there are ‘right’ answers to the questions because each person is individual in their temperament and preferences. But I know that I have desired to use [...]
