Childhood celebrations are often our most cherished life memories. But can these moments be even more impactful for our children? In this workshop, explore practical ideas that engage parents and other caregivers to make fun family moments even more meaningful. Delve into how to make life’s celebration moments, from birthdays to graduations, opportunities to connect families with God and invest in the spiritual formation of children.

God calls grandparents to share their faith with the generations that come behind them (Deuteronomy 6:4-7; Psalm 145:4-7). Christ calls us to “make disciples of all nations” (Matthew 28:19). In this workshop, participants will explore scriptural content to deepen their understanding of the call to the elder generation to “grandparent” and “make disciples of” the children and youth in their lives. They will share ideas for engaging with their grandchildren and take part in a “hands-on” spiritual formation exercise to nurture their own connection with God as well as to use with their grandchildren. Join us as we gain new tools and build skills to nurture the younger generations behind us.

In an increasingly overwhelming world, few children get through childhood without experiencing grief. In this workshop, we will explore the biblical principles of lament, while exploring practical ways to engage parents and church communities in supporting children in and through grief. Additionally, we will consider how communal practices of lament are vital to ensuring our children have the spiritual foundation they need to grow, knowing how to grieve with God and others.
